An F#5 chord, also known as the F# power chord, is built from F# and C#: root plus perfect fifth, and no third. The sound is open and hollow, with no third to make it major or minor.
This page lists three shapes, the lowest at fret 2 and the highest at fret 11. With so few notes to fret, the hand can slide a shape along the neck with barely any change. The player at the top adds a drum loop with a tempo control, which gives you something to play along with. The notes also belong to the F# major pentatonic scale, an alternative to the minor flavour.
The F# power chord is also written as F#5, F#(no 3rd) or F#(omit 3).

F#5, the F# power chord, has two notes: F# and C#. The C# is the perfect fifth of F#. There is no third.
What interval does F# power chord use?
It uses a perfect fifth, which is seven semitones from F# up to C#. That interval is the whole chord, since there is no third or seventh.
Is F#5 another name for Gb5?
Yes. Gb5 contains Gb and Db, the same sounds as F# and C#. Only the letter names differ.
How many voicings are there for F#5?
F#5 has 3 voicings, spanning from fret 2 up to fret 11. None of them uses open strings or a barre.
Which scale works over F#5?
The F# Minor Pentatonic Scale (F#, A, B, C#, E) holds both notes of the chord. Since there is no third, it does not matter that the scale has a minor third.
